Auto repair service
Check Engine Light & Diagnostics
Testing that goes beyond reading a trouble code to identify the system and likely root cause.

Capability first
What 7 Auto Care checks—and how we can help
Start with the concern. We inspect the relevant system, document the evidence, explain the options, and perform only the work you approve.
What we check
- Stored, pending, and history codes plus freeze-frame data
- Live sensor information and relevant technical information
- Circuits, pressures, leaks, ignition, fuel, mechanical condition, or components as the evidence requires
What we can help with
- Code retrieval and scan-data review
- Circuit and component testing
- Mechanical and electrical diagnosis
- Root-cause verification
- Repair recommendations based on evidence
Common warning signs
What drivers often notice
- A steady check-engine light with otherwise normal operation
- Rough running, stalling, hard starting, poor acceleration, or reduced fuel economy
- A flashing light, severe shaking, smoke, overheating, or loss of power
How this service works
Understand the system before choosing the repair
The engine computer monitors emissions and powertrain systems. When it detects data outside an expected range, it stores a diagnostic trouble code and may turn on the check-engine light. That code identifies a circuit or condition—not necessarily the part that failed.
Why it matters
Why timely, accurate service matters
Replacing the component named in a code description can waste money when the real cause is wiring, a leak, a mechanical problem, contaminated data, or another component affecting the same system.
What service may involve
The repair path depends on what testing shows
Diagnosis may lead to a wiring repair, vacuum or exhaust leak repair, sensor or actuator replacement, ignition/fuel work, mechanical repair, software-related next steps, or no immediate repair if the condition cannot yet be verified.
When to get it looked at
Know when to schedule—and when to stop.
A steady light should be checked in a reasonable timeframe. A flashing light often indicates an active misfire that can damage the catalytic converter; reduce load, pull over safely, and call for guidance. Stop immediately for overheating, oil-pressure warnings, or severe running problems.
See what we see
From warning light to tested root cause
Scan results are only part of the story. Digital notes and photos help connect the test results to the repair recommendation.
